CONFERENCIAS DE CEMFOR 2016-2019

2016 - Konferensen "Rasismforskningens utmaningar"
Konferensen var den första i sitt slag och är tänkt att bli årligen återkommande som en del av Uppsala universitets satsning på mångvetenskaplig forskning om rasism.

Keynote speaker: Professor David Theo Goldberg, University of California Humanities Research Institute, USA, som talade på temat The Threat of Race: Reflections on Racial Neoliberalism. På konferensen behandlades metoder, teorier och forskning om rasismens olika uttryck och begreppsteoretiska hölls samtal om ras, rasifiering och rasism. Bland talarna fanns en bred representation av ämnen och universitet, men också av forskare med olika bakgrund och erfarenheter av rasism.

2017 - Konferensen "Rasism och Välfärd"
CEMFOR arrangerade med stöd av Riksbankens jubileumsfond konferensen ”Rasism och välfärd”. Konferensen inleddes med tal av rektor Eva Åkesson samt CEMFOR:s vetenskapliga ledare Irene Molina och Mattias Gardell.

Keynote speakers: Professor Philomena Essed (Antioch University); Claudia Mosquera Rosero-Labbé,föreståndare vid Department of Social Work, Universidad Nacional de Colombia; Professor David Theo Goldberg, Director of the Humanities Research Institute, University of California at Irvine, och Julia Suárez-Krabbe, Cultural Encounters vid Department of Arts and Communications, Syddansk universitet.

2018 - CEMFORs 1 Års Jubileum - Föreläsningar
Den 15 februari 2018 firade Centrum för Mångvetenskaplig Forskning om Rasism (CEMFOR) ett års jubileum i Humanistiska teatern, Engelska parken. Jubielumsprogrammet innehöll en mix av intressanta föreläsningar från Cemfor´s forskare och fantastiska kulturinslag med världstjärnan Barbara Hendrix, urfolksfeministen Timimie Märak, poeten Amer Sarsour, gruppen Bahtale Roma och sångare och författaren Hans Caldaras.

2018 - International Symposium - Un Civility Racism and Populism: Interactive Practices and Discourses in Europe, USA and Beyond. 
Through the symposium, we wish to bring together leading international scholars working on both theoretical and empirical analyses of uncivility in such areas as: communication and media research, critical discourse studies, political science and political sociology, sociology of religion, social geography, political psychology, social history, and ethnic and migration studies. We thereby wish to bridge several existent research initiatives and projects currently conducted on the topic in Sweden, Europe, USA and beyond as well as to debate future research agendas in interdisciplinary and cross-national critical research on uncivility.

2019 - International Racism Studies Conference "Racism and Religion" 
The histories of racism and religion are entangled. To understand how processes of racism, nationalism, and exclusion come about in different forms we need to view these developments as intertwined with religion and ideas of religion and religiosity.
The rise of islamophobia and antisemitism, discrimination and violent persecution of minorities in the name of religion or secularism, and controversies around the visibility of religious practices in public space, all point to the need for a deeper understanding of in what ways religion historically and in the present plays a central role in producing and upholding racism and colonial practices/structures.
